The Straits lands European sale

The Straits will air on the Sundance Channel across Eastern Europe, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Turkey, France and more.

ABC1’s The Straits will air on the Sundance Channel across Eastern Europe, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Turkey, France and Benelux and select territories in Asia.

The show produced by Matchbox Pictures has been picked up by AMC/Sundance Channel Global.

Producer of The Straits, Helen Panckhurst said, “We’re delighted to be receiving significant international interest in The Straits and that the ABC has given us the opportunity to develop such distinctive contemporary Australian drama series.”

“Matchbox have produced such a bold, adventurous drama for ABC TV. We’re very happy to see The Straits embraced internationally by the prestigious Sundance Channel”, said Carole Sklan, Head ABC TV Fiction.

The Slap will also air in Dutch Benelux through an agreement with DCD Rights and follows previously acquired rights for Eastern Europe, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Turkey and Asia.

Matchbox Pictures is currently in production with Underground, about the early life of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, for TEN. The two-hour film is being sold internationally by NBCUniversal.

  1. I’m afraid the ‘very ordinary supporting acting’ made me leave the series after a couple of episodes. I thought it was woeful and am surprised that someone would want to buy it. Amateurish acting, beautiful location.
