Crowds hungry for Amazing Race Australia

They were all smiles as The Amazing Race Australia previewed to an invite audience, but things are about to get a whole lot more competitive.

They were all smiles last night as The Amazing Race Australia previewed their first episode to contest winners at Crown’s Village Cinemas, but things are about to get a whole lot more competitive when Seven’s Race begins on air next week.

In attendance last night were contestants Paul and Steve, James and Sarah, Ross and Tarryn, Shane and Andrew from Victoria, plus Sticky and Sam from Tasmania. The night was hosted by Price is Right announcer Brodie Young.

The 90 minute episode turns it on once again with spectacular shots, crazy challenges, slick editing and a cast that looks ready to implode. The first challenges range from zany to squeamish to exhausting. And the crowd were laughing in all the right spots. If you enjoyed last year’s series, buckle yourself in for another wild ride. ActiveTV have done it again.

As evidence of the show’s appeal, Seven advertised free tickets on their website, instead of liaising through a radio station, and netted more than 5000 requests.

The Amazing Race Australia premieres at 9pm Wednesday on Seven.

  1. Hopefully better than the first season. With only a quarter the prize money of the US version and much simpler tasks to complete with ‘race’ flags / bunting everywhere to aid the contestants in locating where the clue box / finish mat is as well as all the ‘bloopers’ where cameramen are caught in the way of another camera’s shot. I will give No 2 a chance but if it is anything like the first one… I expect to be cringing a lot.

  2. Can’t wait for the second season. I hope it doesn’t get lost in the reality show battle that’s going on between the networks at the moment.
