Eurovision 2012: Bookies’ favourites

Video: Two weeks and counting until Baku 2012. So who do the bookies favour from the 42 songs this year?

Excitement in the air….. it’s now less than two weeks before the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan!

TV Tonight will once again be featuring some of the 42 songs in the running for the 2012 title.

Today we begin with the top 7 songs according to the Bookies.

Most Bookies have Sweden out in front with Loreen singing Euphoria and there is a bit of division on the next batch of faves. Hers is a dynamic song with an arresting performance.

I really don’t care for Russia’s novelty entry, and I just don’t know what the UK is thinking…..

Spain is my other fave from this bunch.

For the fifth year in a row I am blogging detailed Eurovision content at sbs.com.au but I will feature select songs here for my own readers, together with major news as the Final nears (May 27th).

  1. I think I used to like it when we didn’t know until the night and half the fun was the SBS commentary and home town hosts.
With all the DJ inspired Boof Boof Euro trash Engelbert looking better all the time!
Seriously though saw him perform it on the Norton show and after originally thinking it was a 60’s flashback the bloody thing is growing on me, seriously seriously though I am getting old and going insane…….now where’s my Bucks Fizz record?

  2. Political voting is a load. Croatia and Serbia vote for each other, Georgia and Russia vote for each other. Politically, they hate each other. It is simply that the peoples in these supposed blocks have similar ancestries and cultures and clearly have similar tastes. Like Sweden and Norway. To say it is premeditated is stupid. I don’t think they’re sitting around in Ukraine mulling over who to vote for and considering whether or not their govt will work with Russia over a gas pipeline.

Sweden’s is a contemporary, well executed song from an exceptional performer. It should surely win, but one never knows. Many a high energy song has won before, so that isn’t necessarily a concern.

  3. I love the Swedish song and want it to win, but I’m not sure if it will get over the line seeing as one of the worst songs won last year. I hope the Russian grannies do well, but I’m hoping for Sweden/Switzerland/Italy/Iceland. Whoever in the BBC picks the UK entries is incompetent beyond words.

  4. Eurovision is political as the countries vote for their friendly neighbours usually. I used to love watching this when I was a kid but now it’s just crap and as for our entry…. Well that just says it all!!! Englebert??? Seriously??

  5. While I love Sweden, I reckon it might be a bit too dance for the ESC crowd. Italy or Russia at Baku for my money, with lots of room til third place.
