Leading ethicists, scientists and thinkers meet in Canberra to debate a series of vital questions facing Australia.

The forum before a studio audience will be hosted by Dr Norman Swan.

How will science shape what it means to be human?

What makes us human? It’s a question that has intrigued us for thousands of years. As scientific advances push the boundaries of life and death, they challenge our understanding of ourselves.

But as we learn more about who and what we are, does this actually change what it means to be human? What new technologies are on the horizon and how will they affect us? As we make these rapid scientific discoveries, are we opening Pandora’s Box?

Panellists will include:

· Prof Peter Singer – Ethicist
· Prof Paul Davies – Cosmologist and Physicist
· Prof Julio Licinio – Director, John Curtin School of Medical Research ANU
· A/Prof Kate Reynolds – ANU Social Psychologist

Future Forum is a co-production by ABC News 24 and the HC Coombs Policy Forum at the Crawford School ANU.
