Renewed: CSI: NY. Axed: CSI: Miami, Unforgettable, A Gifted Man.

After 10 seasons Horatio Caine will finally be separated from his sunglasses as CBS announces more axings and renewals in the US.

The axe continues to fall in the US with more profile shows meeting their end.

CBS has renewed CSI: New York but axed CSI: Miami, Unforgettable and A Gifted Man.

With the network embarking on new scripted series something had to give. CSI: Miami is the longest-running of the cancellations, having enjoyed 10 seasons.

The network said in a statement, “CSI: Miami leaves an amazing television legacy — a signature look and style, global popularity and as a key player in CBS’s rise to the top over the past decade. We thank all the producers – led by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Ann Donahue — and its talented cast, led by David Caruso, for 10 outstanding seasons. Viewers around the world will continue to enjoy rebroadcasts of CSI: Miami in syndication and on key digital platforms for many years to come.”

Somewhat controversially Gifted Man star Patrick Wilson tweeted “Thanks for the AGM love…but now that it’s ‘official,’ I couldn’t be happier,” about the show’s cancellation. “As good as it was (sometimes) it was not what I signed on for.”

“So… shocking to no one: #agiftedman is done,” he added. “Found out via email…and not from the network. Stay classy. Thanks to AGM fans! Great cast/crew!”

All shows air in Australia on Nine except A Gifted Man on TEN.

  1. CSI Miami was the most expensive of the 3 CSI shows to make, so that’d be the main reason why, even though the NY show rates more poorly and mostly isn’t even filmed in New York city.

  2. Bugger!

Like “A Gifted Man” – Better now that they use less of the Ghost Wife and more on the story

Re CSI – Wont be crying here. How this Man get’s $375,000 an episode for the few wooden minutes he appears is beyond me

  3. I am very surprised, i remember reading some months ago that CSI: NY was the likely show to be axed (out of CSI, CSI: Miami and CSI: NY). Interesting how the tables have turned, i have not been a regular view of the CSI franchise for years…. even lost interest in the original series that started it all a few years back.

  4. an amazing television legacy…

    Crime Fighting 101:
Tip 2: “Now try searching the Federal Database.”
Tip 17: “When analysing CCTV: Zoom in. Repeat.”

  5. I’m surprised CSI: Miami lasted as long as it did but it obviously had its fans. I can’t stand David Caruso – I watched the very first ep and then no more. I’ve been over the whole CSI thing for a few years anyway and didn’t restart watching CSI even after Gris came back.

A Gifted Man was a dull premise with a dull script executed in a dull manner and – what was the other one…?

  6. I’m disappointed that CSI: Miami is being cancelled. Still, a 10-year run for any show is great, particularly when nowadays we have potentially good shows dumped after a dozen episodes.

I gave up on watching CSI:Miami on 9 years ago, simply because of that channel’s awful scheduling and their frequent mixing of new and old episodes. Instead I purchased the DVD sets from the US. No ads, no irritating pop-ups and no mangling of episode order.

  7. Is there any more info on why Miami got the chop before NY?

@Ann I’m not sure on your point as most of the shows you mentioned went for less than CSI Miami’s ten year run.

  8. I used to love CSI:Miami, watched all of the first four seasons until I could no longer tolerate Nine’s treatment of it. It was on Wednesday nights at 8.30pm, which suited me, but then they continuously pulled new episodes for old with no warning, then they started to move the time and day and I gave up. I wasnt going to play Nine’s game. I think I may have followed it to a Sunday night, I cant recall. This is what happens Channel Nine when you stuff around with your programming, you lose viewers. I’m sure I’m not the only one to have stopped playing the programming game.

I preferred this CSI to the original, and could never get into CSI:NY, even though I am usually a fan of NY centered shows.

Also, I wouldnt call Orange a ‘a signature look and style’. Not sure why each CSI needs a colour filter over it. Perhaps it was the green overlay of NY which also put me off.

  9. Patrick sounds bitter lol..

I mean he is a movie star.. starring along side with Kate Winslet, Vanessa Redgrave and Charlize Theron to name a few. Why did he sign on to that rubbish show?

  10. Sad to hear about CSI:Miami, hope 9 will play out the last half a dozen or so episodes left. The CSI franchise has been IMO, the best overseas crime shows on TV in recent years. Lucky we still have the NCIS franchise,The Mentalist, CSI, CSI NY and the bst crime show from the UK, New Tricks.

  11. More to the point, when the hell are 9’s incompetent programmers going to show the remaining current season eps of CSI and Person of Interest, plus the last three eps of Harry’s Law?????

    Bloody clowns…

  12. Well the end of CSI Miami is sad news for me, as my fave crime show. Still waiting for new eps in Australia, but with news of this fate and Harry’s Law, will we ever see the end of these series??
