Returning: Republic of Doyle

Russell Crowe guest stars in the Season Three of Canadian drama Republic of Doyle on 13th Street.

Russell Crowe guest stars in the first episode of Season Three of Canadian drama Republic of Doyle.

In the Season Three premiere, Sergeant Jake Doyle is assigned to protect a mob informant but when a mysterious group of men impede him, Jake finds the tables turned – himself the target of a manhunt. Will the dismantled Team Doyle band together to help Jake before he’s arrested or worse?

Crowe has said of his role, “…It’s actually the four (Russell Crowe, Scott Grimes, Kevin Durand, Alan Doyle) of us that were in Robin Hood (film/movie) together, coming back together again. I mean, we don’t need an excuse to get together and have fun, but it just suits our personalities that we’re getting together with a creative catalyst, you know, because that just makes it even more fun.

“It’s been great. This is a fantastic crew and the production people are all great as well. Everybody’s got a wonderful energy and everybody loves what they’re doing, and I think that is probably the big thing that contributes to the success of the show. Because that love for the detail of what they’re doing and the excitement of what they’re doing actually comes out on the screen.”

Tracking down kidnappers, smoking out dangerous stalkers, foiling prison breaks, exonerating falsely-accused friends, escaping the bullets of assassins and exposing high-level frauds – it’s all in a day’s work at the office of Doyle & Doyle Investigations.

As Season Three opens, the Republic is a very different place – Jake finds himself on the right side of the law for once as the RNC’s newest sergeant. Mal and Rose are enjoying some time off and Des has his hands full at university – working on a Women’s Studies degree. But can this last? Can Jake Doyle make it as a cop? Whatever the case, the City of Legends will never be the same. Follow the ups and downs, from the first punch to the last gasp, this season on Republic of Doyle.

Every Friday & Saturday at 7.30pm from June 1st on 13th Street channel.
