The Roast reaches 50 episodes

When your show is only 2 minutes long, getting to 50 episodes is probably a bit of a milestone.

ABC2 and Comedy Channel interstitial The Roast reached its 50th episode yesterday, not bad for a locally-produced 2 minute comedy.

The show takes aim at the daily news in a satirical, bite-size format.

Presenter Tom Glasson describes The Roast as “a show between shows, a fun-size Mars Bar, sort of like a seat filler at the Oscars.”

Glasson created the show with Nich Richardson, while former Chaser comic Charles Firth is an exec producer.

After the high profile failure of shows like Excess Baggage, producers reckon the best way to guarantee a program’s survival in Australia is by not promoting it in any way, shape or form. They may have a point….

Monday to Friday, at 8:28pm on ABC2 and 6:28pm on The Comedy Channel (also added every day at theroast.com.au)

  1. It’s interesting that ABC2 & The Comedy Channel are sharing this program when they had such a bitter fight over the rights of two other satirical news shows. Hmm…
