A tweet by Bones star David Boreanaz created ripples amongst fans yesterday, suggesting the show’s eighth seaon may be its last.
Referring to the San Diego Comic-Con he wrote:
“SDCC 2012 should be a blast and quite possibly the last for #Bones? Farewell tour? Look forward to seeing everyone there,” he wrote, before clarifying a bit more. “Let’s put this in sports terms. I’m a free agent after this season. So the farewell [sic]l tour is in full-swing.”
But creator Hart Hanson told EW: “We are in no way planning for it to be the last season. I mean anything can happen in a complicated world,” he says, “but we’re very, very confident in having at least a season 9, and I can see as far as season 10 before my eyes get misty.
“If you cross Tom Sawyer with Ferris Bueller, you get David Boreanaz. He loves a brouhaha. That should be his middle name. But I don’t think, even for him, he meant to cause this brouhaha.”

This is not the first time David Boreanaz has done something like this. On his last day of shooting the season 7 finale he tweeted that it was a Series wrap for him despite being contracted for season 8.
I suspect he is just getting an early start on negotiations for his season 9 contract by trying to show how much the show needs him. I reckon there are at least 2 more seasons left in the show but either season 9 or 10 would be its last.

I still like Bones but since the baby I think it’s lost something, maybe it should end on a high note?
