Karl: “I haven’t had a conversation with any other network”

The Age today has an excellent piece on Karl Stefanovic and puts to him those rumours about joining TEN for The Project.

It notes that he is a good friend of Lachlan Murdoch and with his contract coming up he could be in their sights.

“Lachlan and I have had no formal conversation of me doing a role on The Project,” he says. ”I don’t know where that rumour came from. Lachlan and I talk about the business a lot, but we haven’t talked about anything specifically at Channel TEN.

”I haven’t had a conversation with any other network,” he says. ”Even Nine. I have told them I want to go over to the Olympics and see what happens after that. I don’t know whether something would come from another network…I will try and cut the best deal with my network.”

They might want to hurr yup…

Stefanovic also talks about the London Games, his wayward sense of humour, theĀ Today show being “too blokey” and more.

I’m tipping Lachlan will try to lure Karl to Breakfast on a huge contract. Maybe Lisa too. There is no way Ten can keep Breakfast in its current form.

I don’t think Karl would ever leave Nine for the network which started his career years ago. Karl will stay put at Nine which I hope he does. It took him years for Today to fight back against the rise of Sunrise under his helm as a host and in recent years Today have won it’t timeslot in some parts of Australia. If he leaves Nine, what would happen to Today show especially would the ratings drop abit?
