Kerri-Anne Kennerley diagnosed with breast cancer

The show must go on for a defiant Kerri-Anne Kennerley, determined to beat her breast cancer diagnosis.

Kerri-Anne Kennerley has revealed she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The beloved star, 58, told New Idea magazine a mammogram confirmed the cancer after the discovery of a small lump. she told the magazine of an emotional rollercoaster including her “shock, denial, problem-solving practicality and gut-churning fear”.

”I didn’t have any of the risk factors,” Kennerley is quoted as saying.

”That’s why I thought it could never happen to me. I’ve always looked after myself, but here I am.”

She discovered the lump by accident when adjusting a costume for Dancing With The Stars.

“If it hadn’t been for that, I might never have noticed the lump,” she said. ‘It’s a funny thing – the doctor told me if I hadn’t lost 8kg on DWTS, and if I hadn’t been fiddle-faddling with that beaded bra, I might not have realised there was anything wrong for months. I guess you could say DWTS saved my life.”

She had treatment at Sydney’s Mater Hospital on May 31st, a day before filling in as co-host on The Morning Show on Seven where she danced and sang without letting on.

But the former host is determined to beat the disease.

She has also postponed treatment in order to compete in the grand final of Dancing with the Stars.

Best wishes for a full recovery, to a classy lady.

  1. Wow I was watching that episode of TMS, she really held all of that in, what a strong lady. Seems unfair, in the middle of her career resurgence. But she is lucky to have the whole of Australia behind her.

This might seem insensitive timing but would a Farrah Faucet diary type tv show or documentary be on the cards? People have grown up with KAK and I think it would be mutually beneficial for her to share her journey and raise awareness.
