Portia de Rossi cast as ‘Lily Munster’

Aussie Portia De Rossi has been cast as Lily Munster in NBC's Munsters remake, Mockingbird Lane.

Aussie Portia De Rossi has been cast as Lily Munster in NBC’s Munsters remake, Mockingbird Lane -a pretty good choice, really.

She will play the role created by the very classy Yvonne De Carlo, and opposite the new-look ‘Herman Munster’, Jerry O’Connell.

The former Arrested Development and Better Off Ted star completes the principal cast, which also includes Eddie Izzard as Grandpa, Mason Cook as son Eddie, and newcomer Charity Wakefield as Marilyn, the family’s shameful “plain” cousin.

The NBC reboot shifts from sitcom to a darker drama, written by Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies) and directed by Bryan Singer (House).

Reports indicate the series will explore the origins of Herman and Lily and how they arrived at 1313 Mockingbird.

  1. I am definitely watching Mockingbird Lane as I am someone who has loved Portia since Sirens.

I am not sure if she should described as a former Arrested Development star since new Arrested Development episodes which she is in comes out next year.

  2. After her performance in Better Off Ted, I’ve decided that Portia is probably my all-time favourite TV actress. I would not have normally watched Mockingbird Lane, but think I will have to now.
