US series Nurse Jackie has been renewed by Showtime for a fifth season.
The series, starring Edie Falco, also gets a new showrunner after co-creators Linda Wallem and Liz Brixius both exited the show earlier this year.
They will be replaced with former executive producer of Dexter, Clyde Phillips.
In the US the fourth season has enjoyed more than 1.1 million viewers, up 30 percent from a year earlier, averaging 2.8 million total weekly viewers including On Demand, live plus seven viewing and replays.
Season four is currently airing in Australia on ELEVEN.
Production on the series’ fifth season will begin in late 2012.
