Anything new from Ryan Murphy (Glee, American Horror Story, Nip / Tuck) is worth some attention, and here’s a trailer for his newest series, The New Normal.

It features Andrew Rannells (Book of Mormon) and Justin Bartha (The Hangover) as a gay couple looking to have a baby. Enter surrogate mom Goldie (Georgia King) and her conservative grandmother (Ellen Barkin).

Aside from obvious parallels to Modern Family, I’m also vaguely reminded of Murphy’s pilot Pretty / Handsome which was never picked up, although that had a different subject.

It airs in the US later this year.
