This month World Movies celebrates the cartoons definitely not meant for children, with WM: Animation.

This month-long special features some of the best animation from around the world – including Sweden, France, Iran and the US – every Friday night at 8.30pm, beginning tonight. We present an acclaimed animated film every week, all with distinct styles and wildly different stories to tell.

First up is Sweden’s Metropia featuring the voices of Alexander Skaarsgard and Juliette Lewis, followed the next week by the Oscar nominated French-Iranian film Persepolis starring Catherine Deneuve. Samuel L. Jackson and Lucy Liu lend their voices to Afro Samurai: Resurrection and we premiere France’s whimsical Oscar nominee The Triplets of Belleville.
