American TV’s live cross …..to SBS reporter.

An SBS reporter was covering a story in Syracuse, USA, when a local broadcaster decided he was worthy of a story himself.

In Australia our journalists just get on with the job of reporting the news.

But in America the journalists report on the fact journalists are reporting the news…..

SBS reporter Nick Lazaredes was covering a story on synthetic drugs for Dateline in Syracuse, USA, when he suddenly found local broadcaster News Channel 9 decided he was worthy of a story himself. Including with a Live cross.

“We met a crew from Down Under today reporting on the phenomenon of synthetic drugs,” said the presenter.

Only in America?

  1. I happened to be awake around 2.15/30pm today and watching the BBC via ABC24, and there on my screen was Ch 10s Hamish Macdonald, being interviewed.

Hamish seemed to be interviewed because he used to work in the UK and would’ve been familiar to some viewers.

He also reported that though the time difference was 9 hours it meant main events could be reported during breakfast tv, or late news bulletins back here in OZ.

  2. Must have been slow news day in Syracuse. Reminds me of the time that Seven News Cairns did a story on Paul Mercurio shooting an episode of Mercurio’s Menu. Slow news day indeed !!!!

  3. Australians interested in America?

No. Australians looking to America and facepalming?

    Most definitely.

Journalism is clearly dead if they are reporting on themselves.
