Global TV wins broadcasting contract for 2014 Commonwealth Games

Production facilities company Global Television has been awarded the broadcast contract for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Production facilities company Global Television has been awarded the broadcast contract for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, with UK partner Sunset and Vine.

This is the third consecutive Commonwealth Games contract that Global has won and encompasses every aspect of the production and technical delivery of the international television and radio signals, including designing, building and operating the International Broadcast Centre.

The IBC handles incoming television pictures and sound from the venues and distributes that footage to international broadcasters, with hundreds of journalists working 24/7 throughout the Games.

Global Television has previously delivered International Broadcast Centres and venue requirements for the 2010 Commonwealth Games Delhi, World Youth Day 2008, 2008 Rugby League World Cup, 2007 FINA World Championships, 2006 Commonwealth Games Melbourne, 2003 Rugby World Cup, the Goodwill Games 2001 and was the Host Broadcaster for the 2000 Sydney Paralympics.

It also provides facilities for Australian TV including NRL, AFL, V8 Supercars, Cricket, Dancing with the Stars, The Voice, The X-Factor, My Kitchen Rules and Neighbours.

TEN has the Free to Air rights for the Australian broadcast of the Glasgow Games.
