Is there anything more magical than Tour de France?

Mountains, fields, chateaus and castles -in HD the Tour de France is just spectacular.

You don’t have to like sport to be captivated by the images from the Tour de France.

In HD this thing is just spectacular.

The French scenery is gob-smackingly gorgeous with its mountains, fields, rivers, waterfalls and gorges. The country is so damned green.

The helicopter shots linger on chateaus and castles, bringing postcard pictures into our living rooms.

On Wednesday the event had its highest ratings so far with 348,000, up 38% on the same stage last year. SBS pulled a network share of 9.3%.

Average figures are currently 13% higher than in 2011.

  1. “Is there anything more magical than Tour de France?” David Copperfield? Bob Katter’s ability to put both feet in his mouth and keep talking?

Love the TDF and Phil & Paul. Watch every night. Occasionally switch over for an hour of something else but then I stream it to my laptop. The long periods of continuous coverage betw ad breaks are a treat compared with watching the V8SC on Seven.

  2. Very inspirational watching the past two nights as they cycle through the mountains. They are so damn tough competitors.
And it’s such an awesome ride from my lounge. I must go there when I can afford it.

  3. Absolutely stunning scenery and photography.I never miss seeing the TDF every night it is on..My partner and I lie back in bed and watch the scenery and imagine we are there. We love the race and the commentary. They are the best commentators on any sport show on TV.

  4. Totally agree, it’s mesmerising. It’s a shame I have to go to bed early and miss half the show each night.

Plus I’m impressed at how Phil Liggett can maintain being so interesting while narrating nearly 100% of the race.
