Peter Reith in Afghanistan for Go Back to Where You Came From

Go Back to Where You Came From visits Afghanistan & Somalia for its second season next month.

Peter Reith will be seen in Afghanistan in the second season of Go Back to Where You Came From.

The former Defence minister for the Howard Government joins Angry Anderson, Allan Asher, Catherine Deveny, Mike Smith, and Imogen Bailey for the second season of the critically-acclaimed SBS documentary.

In teasers released by SBS, the cast can also be seen in Somalia.

Go Back to Where You Came From will premiere at 8:30pm on Tuesday August 28 and continues on Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 Auguston SBS ONE.

An Insight special hosted by Jenny Brockie will air on Friday 31 August, 8.30pm -but this strikes me as poor scheduling. It should really be airing at 9:30pm Thursday, immediately following the last episode. ABC has successfully done this with docos and Q&A specials on Thursdays. I hope SBS make a switch on this one.

  1. Although another repeat option is to play them all weekly on SBS2 e.g. Wednesday 8.30pm. So if someone misses the first day they could catch it the second. Plus have it weekly so it’s consistent. I wonder what SBS will do…

  2. I think having the insight special on the same night straight after helps to keep the momentum going. Also(and this is just my uneducated opinion)it would reach a higher audience carrying on from go back to where you came from

  3. I hope they repeat the show on SBS2 the night after like they did before. Because Thursday is out unless Star Trek is not on or Eleven is completely unwatchable on two separate antennas and TVs.

Also by the way I don’t mind the Insight special on Friday also if it’s repeated on SBS2 on Saturday. If there is no Star Trek still: then I could watch one or the other channel. Also since the advertising hasn’t been obnoxious with those annoying electronic ads ruining all the prorammes so far then I might watch it except on Thursday. So repeats are important.

The other option is they could go crazy on Saturday and play them all back-to-back on SBS2. Including the Insight special. Like Eleven does with Masterchef.
