The Inbetweeners getting a US movie

The Inbetweeners are set to get a US feature film -but with the US or UK cast?

The Inbetweeners are set to get a US feature film from Paramount Pictures, but what isn’t yet clear is whether it will feature the UK originals (fingers xd) or the cast of the upcoming American version.

The UK Inbetweeners Movie, which starred the UK cast, took over $68m at the box office and was name Best Comedy at the 2012 Empire Awards.

Now creators Ian Morris and Damon Beesley will be working together on the script with Morris asked to make his directorial debut.

Reports suggest the US film will be inspired by the British original, but will involve different characters and a road trip theme.

The US version of the series has already been produced by Brad Copeland (Arrested Development) for MTV, and is due to air from August 20.

  1. With the exception of The Office, the US always manage to suck every bit of humour and charm out of their horrible adaptations of great Britcoms.

  2. The US tv series starts in August doesn’t it?

The problem is, they all have the same names. You can’t tell which is which from looking at them. Then they aren’t writing completely new episodes.

They were filming at a theme park with one of them carrying around a yellow car door.

Makes me think back to Graham Lineham (Father Ted, The It Crowd) talking about the problem with the foreign adaptions of It Crowd. They just copied it. They didn’t do anything new, they didn’t improve on it. That adaptions need to take the premise and do a whole new version of it. I think he even said the Big Bang Theory was more in line to how the US adapation of the It Crowd should have been. Except it’s shite.

  3. Hmmmm I await judgement on the US version but I doubt it will be anywhere near as good as the UK version – same old story really….

I’d love to see another movie featuring the original 4 and have them do a trip to the US – it would be hilarious!
