Arrested Development back before the cameras

By David Knox on August 8, 2012 / Filed Under News 15

Arrested Development begins production today on its brand new episodes, some six years after the show ended production.

Deadline reports all cast members are expected to return: Jason Bateman, Jeffrey Tambor, Portia de Rossi, David Cross, Jessica Walter, Will Arnett, Michael Cera, Alia Shawkat and Tony Hale — are all in final negotiations and expected to return. Ron Howard also is reprising his role as narrator. That’s a pretty rare feat for any cancelled show.

Each of the new episodes follows one member of the Bluth clan, although some episodes may feature multiple characters.

The new season is envisioned as a bridge between the original series and an Arrested Development movie.

Hurwitz has also left the door open to doing an additional season if the initial 10 new episodes prove successful. So yes….

The new eps will premiere in 2013.

its an overrated show, I watched it on ABC2 and didn’t laugh all that much but I did prefer Season 1 over 2 and 3.

One of the best and most original comedies: ever! Can’t wait to see the new incarnation.

Um..just because each episode focuses on one character, doesn’t mean others won’t be involved.

I believe that what is being implied is that the story of each episode will feature one of the characters as the main focus.

    I’m excited.

I look forward to complaining online how the new episodes aren’t very good.

No matter if they are or aren’t. We all know there’s only about a 1% chance we won’t at best slightly disappointed.

Although chances are when reviewing the season later on, we’ll think they’re all quite good.

I had read somewhere that they had scrapped the idea of focusing on one character per episode.

Brilliant news. An incredibly clever and hilarous show. Brilliant writers. Thank God someone saw the light!

Yes please! It’s wickedly funny and I enjoyed the recent reruns on ABC2.

@bonrad – there is something nicely ironic about mis-spelling “cleverest”!

@JB – you blowhard, you forgot to add ‘away’!

I’ve watched all episodes about 5 times and still laugh loudly. Yet my partner just doesn’t get it. His loss.

    I just blue myself.

So excited for this. One of the best shows of the past 10 years and ended way too soon.

Cool! Time to dig out the Arrested Development DVDs!

In a world of TV mediocrity not much excites me any more, but this news does!
The fly hovering perilously close to the ointment, however, is that the new series has a hard act to follow and could easily spoil a classic by being a pale imitation of the earlier masterpieces.
God, I hope they get it right!
Sorry for the melodrama, but Arrested Development is perhaps my favorite comedy series and I don’t want to see any ‘shark-jumping’.

One of the cleverist (I think that’s a word) shows ever to come out of America. I hope the new eps are of the same high standard. Don’t know how focussing on just one character per episode will go as I loved it when they interacted with each other. Can’t wait though.
