Pay TV revenue up 10%

Subscription TV body ASTRA has reported a 10.08% growth in year-on-year advertising revenues.

Subscription TV body ASTRA has reported a 10.08% growth in year-on-year advertising revenues, reports The Australian.

Revenue in the financial year 2012 reached $424 million.

Net advertising revenues in the first half of this year is up 17.31% to $211 million, from the previous corresponding period, according to Ernst & Young research.

“A strong programming line-up of premium and exclusive content paired with innovative services and products enables advertisers to reach their desired audience. We continue to see opportunities even in a cautious market,” chief executive officer of ASTRA Petra Buchanan said.

The boost in ad revenue follows Free to Air Television recently reporting a slight drop in earning for the same period.

ASTRA claims 7 million Australians watch Pay TV each week with viewers watching about 25 per cent more television than Free to Air viewers.
