Tangle fans have been waiting for some clarity on whether a fourth season will be approved, so TV Tonight asked co-producer Imogen Banks.
“We would all love to make Series Four of Tangle, but I just don’t know that it’s going to happen.
“We do often talk about getting out there and shooting on the weekends or on our iPhones!” she laughed.
The Pay TV drama starring Justine Clarke, Catherine McClements, Kat Stewart and Matt Day nearly didn’t get a fourth season with Showtime’s huge investment in Cloudstreet.
But fans were delighted with the third season, including its dark ending.
“I’m saying that the door has never officially been closed but it becomes less likely the further out of Season Three you get. But it’s never been officially closed.
But the outlook for a fourth series doesn’t look good,
“With everything that’s going on in the cable platform at the moment, it would be difficult for them to make the decision to do it, I think,” said Banks.
Showtime declined to comment.

@michaelOz – I agree. A great show like Tangle deserves to at least be wrapped up properly.
As i posted on the Tangle Facebook page, even if the series isn’t brought back for a full series, the producers should at least push for a 2 hour movie, to tie up all the loose ends…
The story, as it is, is incomplete.
Best Australian series in ages.
Nooooooooooooooooo!!!! That really really sux!!
Such a great show, i still have not seen season 3 as don’t have showtime but have pre ordered it and can’t wait to watch. Such a shame, why can’t commercial TV make anything as good as this?? They play it so safe to the point where it is mind numbingly boring and predicable.
As Richard Freudenstein has been giving interviews to the AFR as well as News about his desire to rationalise the movie offerings perhaps it’s time he gave the local production sector some clarity as to what this means for Showtime’s Australian drama commissioning which has created the opportunity to produce some of the best Australian drama we’ve ever seen (such as Love My Way and Tangle). Showtime’s “no comment” is not acceptable.
That’s really sad news, especially considering the cliffhanger ending of season 3. It’s so frustrating that many subpar Australian dramas get multiple 22 episode seasons, but in total we’ve only had 22 episodes of this brilliant show over 3 seasons.
