Today Tonight reporter quits over paparazzi allegations

Today Tonight reporter Jonathan Creek has quit amid claims he sold information to magazine photographers.

Today Tonight reporter Jonathan Creek has quit following a six week suspension, amid claims he sold information to magazine photographers.

Creek was embroiled in assisting to stage fake paparazzi photos of Simone Callahan, former wife to Shane Warne, and boyfriend Toby Roberts.

Shane Warne’s ex was allegedly tricked into pre-arranged paparazzi photoshoots by her new boyfriend, who reportedly accepted money from photographers to stage romantic moments. Photos were later sold to New Idea and Woman’s Day for $52,000.

The Sunday Telegraph reports half of that went to Tune In Media, a company owned by Creek’s wife.

In June Seven’s head of news and current affairs Peter Meakin said, “We take this kind of thing very seriously.

“We intend to establish exactly what happened and look into the allegations.”

The newspaper notes, “Seven management said it was unable to say anything due to a confidentiality agreement.”

  1. To explain my comment further, when unethical behaviour by one of their reporters is going on without their knowledge it’s a serious matter.Otherwise it’s okay for their reporters to be unethical,as long as they know about it.
This is how I interpret it.Hypocrites of the worst kind.

  2. TT & ACA have both become embarrassments to the field of journalism and to their networks. Both of them should consider ditching and restarting from scratch. Who’s got the biggest kahunas to go first?

  3. It’s funny that in this case inappropriate behaviour by a reporter is found to be unacceptable, whilst in other situations inappropriate behaviours by reporters are justified and acceptable.
That ethical line of right and wrong seems to move around alot when it’s suited.
