hannigans heroes – EDN probably costs millions to produce – excluding the millions Ten has probably spent on the promos..
Settling for 600-750K will be totally unacceptable for a show that costs so much.
Kelly and Jason would probably be getting a fair chunk out of a million each – on top of the 5 star accomodation, chauffers and first class plane trips
And Sarah herself would be getting paid a decent wage – courtesy of husband – and again 5 star accomodation, chauffers etc.
Add the set design, the crew and the prize money and EDN is a very very very very expensive show.
I agree with jshaw. It is very likely that Murdoch is either deliberately approving stinkers so viewers will flock to his dad’s cable channel – or he is really out of his depth at running Ten.
I am leaning towards both.
Sorry Ten – EDN is this years Renovators – and it doesn’t look like you have learnt anything at all.
Fingers crossed Puberty Blues and Class of redeem the network a bit – but with the Shire lead in, I won’t hold my breath.
Shame the promos for both PB and Class look really really interesting.
The problem with TEN is that breakfast does not rate. They axed the circle & are about to show us “don’t tell the bride” which looks very cheaply made & will prob be shifted to ELEVEN after the 1st week. Everybody dance now is not a bad show i don’t mind it but that too will end up on ELEVEN
Lachlan Murdoch is stuffing the TEN network so his mates at foxtel get more subscribers. Advertisers are avoiding TEN.
Could always get ABC1/ABC24 to do a 7-minute promo for EDN, as they did for Howzat! this morning, complete with caption promoting day, time and channel.
When twice as many watch Hot Seat or Deal or No Deal than EDN, there’s a problem. TEN beaten again by ABC1.
I honestly thought it would have done better last night given it was after BB. Thinking just under 500k. This is still bad. And so is Sarah. Just sooo wooden!!
SYTYCD was a far greater format. I switched off after 20 minutes of EDN on sunday night. I’m sure it will be gracefully shifted to eleven at some point…
EDN was launched prematurely, but they can recover– while not to huge numbers, they can recover to decent figures. Once they hit the ‘live shows’, if they can figure a way to promote the show like it’s a fresh beginning and treat the battle rounds as the audition rounds, they can easily draw in more viewers. Throw in the slew of new Ten shows starting, and they should help life up EDN’s ratings as well. I’m sure the show could settle around 600-750k.
David – even a slight rise from 304K to 324K won’t save it.
The only reason I can see Ten sticking with it is because Lachlan doesn’t want to admit his mistake and there is no way he will axe a show his wife hosts.
If Murdoch and Mott decide to stick with EDN on Ten (like they are doing with the equally woeful Breakfast) the entire Ten schedule will be dragged down.
I can honestly see them sacking hundreds of workers and maybe even axing The Project to make up for EDN and the other stinkers like Bingle and Shire.
Such a shame they didn’t just bring back the highly enjoyable SYTYCD.
Everybody Dance Now was 324,000.
