60 Minutes investigation tops Sunday

Ratings: 60 Minutes led the ratings on Sunday with 1.65m viewers but it was Seven that won the night.

60 Minutes led the ratings on Sunday with 1.65m viewers. Michael Usher told viewers his story on abuse at Boystown from 1971-2002 has resulted in a Queensland police investigation, Operation Lariat.

But it was Seven that won the night with 31.4%, then Nine 30.1%, ABC 20.1%, TEN 13.9% and SBS 4.4%.

Sunday Night (1.55m) won its timeslot for Seven, with other performers being Seven News (1.36m), Border Security (1.24m), Airways (1.19m), Mrs. Brown’s Boys (1.03m / 568,000 / 330,000) and Bones (371,000).

Following 60 Minutes for Nine were House Husbands (1.25m), Nine News (1.23m), Big Brother (1.02m) and The Mentalist (458,000).

Kevin’s Grand Design was 1.03m for ABC1 then Call the Midwife (1.01m), Dream Build (954,000), ABC News (940,000), Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple (568,000) and Compass (295,000).

NCIS was TEN’s best show on 686,000. TEN News was 506,000, Modern Family was 482,000, The Project was 395,000, The Simpsons was 367,000, Graham Norton was 358,000. TEN also has new problems with MotoGP Live not pulling enough eyeballs for its timeslot: just 165,000 in 3 cities on TEN and 28,000 in 2 cities on ONE.

On SBS ONE City Beneath the Waves was 293,000 then World News Australia (178,000), Inside Nature’s Giants (156,000), and Tyson (148,000).

Plonsters on ABC2 was the top multichannel show with 219,000.

  1. I watched Border Security,Airways and Mrs Browns Boys and found them interesting particularly the Airline based show for someone who never normally flies Budget Airlines.I had a good laugh with Mrs Brown over the whole MisUnderstanding about the Dog being put down or put into a home when the audience thought it was the Mum.Seven do well with Comedies.

  2. I did watch House Husbands…because Escape to Country was not on…
And what is with these ‘half shows’….30 minutes of Graham Norton….and Ch.9 did the same thing with Antiques Roadshow on their main channel at 5.30PM last night…?!?

  3. Split MotoGp and F1 over two channels is now making that once surefire ratings hits a sitting duck. Look what happened when Seven did the same thing with V8s, they split it because of AFL, low ratings. Sandown 500 last weekend on a single channel? in Top 20.

  4. Ten would be kicking themselves for knocking back Big Brother this time – I still think it’s a better fit for them than Nine.
However, Nine would be happy with Big Brother’s ratings – I presume especially in terms of demographics for 18-34 year olds?

  5. it seems the public affairs shows are going through another popular phase, will we see them extended to 90min+?

60mins is limited by its title, but i think it could be a really strategic move for SN.
