Bumped: Marngrook Footy Show

By David Knox on September 12, 2012 / Filed Under Programming 7

Heads up fans of the Marngrook Footy Show, from this week the show moves to 7:30pm Thursdays on ABC2, which at least moves it away from Before the Game.

Live on Marngrook Footy Show this Thursday September 13 at the new time of 7.30pm, Grant Hansen, Gilbert McAdam, Ronnie Burns, Derek Kickett and Chris Johnson will be on the panel. They’ll be joined by special guests Hawthorn premiership player Peter Schwab and Essendon premiership player Terry Daniher. There will also be a special report on former Bulldogs player Danny Del-Re, and Leila Gurruwiwi and Shelley Ware will present the latest AFL footy news. A huge musical line-up sees country star, Troy Cassar-Daley and National Indigenous Music Awards winners, the Medics, perform live in the studio.

Andrew, it’s only because the Dr. Who reruns have ended (thank goodness.) Not that I don’t like Dr. Who (I’m a long time fan) but I also believe the adage of Too Much of A Good Thing.

Also thanks David for the clarification about ‘bumped’, I’ll remember that for this site.

The show is moved to a new timeslot just three weeks before the end of season?

I suppose the earlier timeslot will work in its favour but seems a bit odd for ABC to bump the show when it’s almost done for the year.

Nope, I always say Bumped when a show is moved from its timeslot. Whether its ‘upgraded’ or ‘downgraded’ is also subjective. In Programming the key words I use are Airdate, Returning, Gone, Bumped and Update.

Yeah I agree with Sydney2K. On this site you usually say ‘bumped’ when a show’s been demoted to a worse timeslot.

Bumped is neither positive nor negative. It equates to “moved.”

I don’t know about the word “bumped”, as it’s usually used for the replacement of one program for another. In this case I see it as a promotion to a better timeslot.

Good move, as I like both Marngrook and Before the Game
