Downton Abbey: trailer

There's a new trailer in town for Downton Abbey's third season, and it channels Lou Reed's "Perfect Day."

I guess it’s not that far removed from those pop choons Seven promos used after all?

There’s a dash more from Shirley Maclaine (can’t wait!) and it looks like Lady Mary and Matthew can’t hold back that tide any longer…

This premieres in the UK in just over a week’s time.

But Seven has previously confirmed it is holding it until February.

  1. I’ll admit I wish in 2014 they wait to play the next series if there is one until after Easter. Even Winter if they need to. Mainly because in summer there’s Daylight Savings and more people are out. Plus if there’s cricket some might flick over during the ads.

Although one could argue it might be a good counter programming against the cricket. But I think Autumn and Winter could possibly have the most viewers because of the cold at least in southern areas. Plus I’ll admit when I’ve experienced a 35+ degrees C day British period drama costumes seem absolute torture as an idea. Although Downton isn’t that bad compared to earlier centuries. Maybe it’s just me and I have the wrong ideas.

@ SusanP thanks for the recommendation.

  2. Ahhhhhmazing! For a while I was a bit concerned Series 3 would be lacklustre but now woow! I wish Seven would take a note from ABC’s playbook, fans before ratings.

  3. I think it is Scala & Kolacny Brothers again. See…the UK get it right whereas we’re subjected to 7’s “pop” promos. I wish they’d just play them as is. Far more fitting. Listen up 7!

  4. I’ll admit I just hope there’s no bushfire this February so I’m not too stressed out to watch television. I’ll admit it happened on the Sunday after Black Saturday. I was going to watch Cranford on the ABC. I never did. By the way I’m not asking for it to be shown this year. Just March would be less dangerous. Although one could hope it isn’t hot.

  5. It’s such a shame Seven is prepared to concede Sunday 830 for the rest of the year when it could schedule this. The dedicated audience don’t want to wait – we’ll all buy it by Christmas. Seven really needs David Mott to get in there and fire Sunday night up. Seven are nodding off this year – very John Howard – relaxed and comfortable.
