George Calombaris whipped into legal fight

George Calombaris faces legal action over the name of one of his desserts.

George Calombaris is in hot water once again (this is getting to be a habit), this time over the name of one of his desserts.

Stan Gordon, who owns the Mr Whippy franchise, is suing the MasterChef judge for naming a $9.50 dessert the “Mrs Whippi” at his restaurant St Katherine’s in Kew.

The Daily Telegraph reports Mr Whippy Pty Ltd has filed a trademark infringement and is seeking unspecified damages in the Federal Magistrate’s Court.

Calombaris previously made the news when he criticised the government over weekend penalty rates for restaurant staff.

  1. It’s a name for crying out loud.It would be like suing for a whole bunch of Elvis Impersinators long after the original was dead.maybe not a fair comparison but much the same.

  2. @Secret Squirrel.
I’m enjoying that mental image very much…thank you.
Even more if you picture George in a Gimp suit with the lips zipped firmly shut!

  3. @The Other Adam…..If it’s nouvelle cuisine you would probably get a square cm of wafer…a teaspoon dollop of icecream…and a licorice stick sliced into a 100 fine pieces with one placed on top as the whip. $9.50. No worries mate! 🙂

I rang local Maccas David and they said 30cents.. but I saw online some say that in their area it was 50cents. I live in a socio-economically depressed area. 🙂

Is this sub judice…or is that something to do with Subway? :))
