  1. Hello. My family have watched Dallas from its inception (old and new). I can’t believe it is being dropped. It could be a reflection of the company that owns Channel 9. They are in trouble and there is a rumor that Channel 9 could go off the air, possibly because of decisions like this. I hope they don’t go off the air and I hope they bring back Dallas.

  2. Who cares if it takes a few episodes to get going, it’s Dallas we’re talking about! Get real channel nine and bring back Dallas before we get JR on your case! What is wrong with people these days? We, the viewers, want Dallas back now, so get to it!

  3. I was hooked too but only found out last night it had been dropped when it wasn’t appearing in the recorded programs on my HD recorder. It was the first time in years anything much on 9 had appealed to me. It is better suited to 10’s schedule anyway. At only 10 eps they could have played it on Sundays to fill the gap (as they are doing now) while they wait for the fast track eps of the new seasons shows about to start in the US.

The more the network programmers do this to us, the more responsible they become for the increase in illegal downloading.

  4. I’m so disappointed in channel 9 for dropping Dallas!!! Our whole family loved it…What are you thinking channel 9.. Do you really think people would prefer to watch embarrassing bodies over Dallas!! Do your research properly!!

  5. Why does it not surprise me! Channel 9 are just so unreliable with their weird timeslots and who would risk watching a new series only to have it pulled after 4 episodes. It seems like they would rather air re runs and mindlessly stuff their viewers around. This is a common thing with 9, they heavily promote something, air a couple of episodes and then pull it – shame, shame, shame. I’m sorry to say that pulling Dallas for Embarrassing Bodies, forgoodness sake, was the straw that broke the camels back!! 9 what a disgrace!!!!! Lift your game!!

  6. For once we get something decent to watch & then it vanishes. With all the ‘reality’ programs, its nice to see something a little more imaginative. very very disappointing Ch 9 – why not put it on GEM instead – there are some oldies out here who like a reasonable ‘soap’ to get their teeth into. Always thought Ch 9 was one of the better ones, that’s been proven to be a false….. shame, shame, shame

  7. This is typical I too was enjoying this series I agree with all the comments regarding the timeslot, why can’t it stay the same, changing it around all the time just frustrates people. Put it on Go of Gem if you (channel 9) do not want to air it. I still want to find out what happens and I think it is just as good as the old one. JR needs to get his eyebrow trimmed however as it was very annoying!!

  8. Typical Nine having total disregard to it’s viewers! I was just getting into Dallas. I think the big turn off is the crazy amount of ads which seems like every 5 mins. They totally ruined the Olympics too. Shown up by how the ABC covered the Paralympics. And no Eddie McGuire…best!!!!

  9. Pertinax,
That really does smack of poor decision making, any investor will conduct some due diligence checks before parting with their (or a bank’s) money, and for CVC to buy Nine on the basis that the Australian FTA environment is different to the rest of the world (and therefore recession proof) is jaw-dropping. I would even suggest that the Australian FTA market (with its small audiences and over reliance on imports) is much weaker than those elsewhere.

It just strikes me that Nine are living on borrowed time: they’ve recently spent big to get the rights to the Rugby Union internationals and the World Cup, the Olympics, and the NRL, and have ruined the broadcast of all of them.
Now they’ve dropped one of the shows that they over-promoted during their butchering of the Olympics.

With viewers abandoning the network in droves thanks to their knee-jerk business decisions, including those that watched Dallas, advertisers have got to be noticing. And without advertisers, where’s their income going to come from?
I really can’t see them surviving much longer in their current form.

  10. There are only 6 episodes left, I think I will access them by other means rather than wait for Nine network to decide where to schedule them.

I do prefer to watch my shows when they are aired, however sometimes I am left with no choice but to go elsewhere when shows are continually shafted by FTA.

  11. If anyone wants to see how it all ends up with the terrific big twist that links this new version so well with the previous 20 years, the last ten minutes of Ep 10 are easily available on you tube.

  12. @ Shelley ….thanks…yes they are there…and I only missed the last two…but if it is not going to be shown again….not sure I want to waste my data on something I will not see the end of…

  13. @HardcorePawn: Channel 9 was sold to a private equity company CVC. They borrowed billions of dollars from the banks to buy out the Packers.

They got the timing spectacularly wrong gambling that since the FTA market in Australia hadn’t fragmented and fallen as it had in the rest of the world it wasn’t going to.

In 2013 they will have to roll over that debt. They are holding a firesale and selling off the magazines and everything that isn’t Channel 9 and the broadcast TV licence at the moment.

Of course as the old saying goes if you owe the banks $1m it’s your problem, but if you owe them $1b it’s the banks’ problem. If CVC can’t organise finance, and that will not be easy in the current economic climate, the banks may just take Channel 9 in payment for the debt.

  14. How long can Nine expect to throw money at dud shows?
I was under the impression that they were already billions in debt and facing the very real possibility of being shut down. Overspending on buying the rights to poor quality shows, then splurging millions on marketing and advertising will surely hasten their demise.

  15. Channel 9 and Channel 7 are pathetic as they both dont give new shows a chance ! The Horray for the day goes to Channel 10 who perservere with new programs indefinitely regardless of quality and ratings.- eg: I Will Survive, Don’t Tell The Bride, The Project and just about every other show on their schedule…..
