Hunt goes wide for Urban’s placement on The Voice

The guessing game has been on for Keith Urban's replacement on The Voice since last week.

The guessing game has been on for Keith Urban’s replacement on The Voice since last week.

John Farnham, Jimmy Barnes, Shannon Noll, Kylie Minogue have all been floated as wish list names.

Industry sources tell TV Tonight that contrary to rumours, Urban’s replacement does not need to be Australian.

Both local and international names are said to be under consideration.

Nor does the act need to be signed to Universal Records, the label that signs the winning act.

  1. I seem to remember Kasey Chambers being an Australian Idol fan so she might seriously consider judging if asked. I am really having trouble thinking of any other Aussie that would fit the bill.

  2. In the US they just announced that for series four of The Voice on NBC, Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo will be replaced by Usher and Shakira.

Couldn’t give a toss about the Australian version of The Voice, I tuned out after the audition rounds. I watched the first season of the American version when Javier Colon won and enjoyed it.

  3. How about Chris Isaak. Now he has personality and loves Australia. Still think we need an Aussie though. Keep comming back to Kasey Chambers. What about a wiggle.

  4. Consistency with the US format would designate a country singer is needed to replace Keith. I don’t know if there is a suitable Aussie with the right profile though. James Blundell or Adam Brand maybe?

  5. bettestreep2008: Pink has recently revealed that she has turned down at least one reality show gig in the past. I don’t think even Australia’s love for her would convince her to change her mind.

  6. The Voice likes to go for a pop, soul, rock, country judging panel. That is why Keith was great he was the trifecta of filling the country slot, Australian, and an international sucess. they won’t be able to replace that.

Farnham, Barnes, and Noll would need some intensive personality coaching to get up to scratch, but even then, The Voice thrives on their modern, slick, high energy feel. a mould those 3 do not fit.

Kylie would be great, i think people have really warmed to her over time, but would be better as a replacement for delta.

  7. I hope they do make it an Australian artist &/or country so that they are still representing that genre 🙁 . I can’t say I love Keith, but sad to see him go. Hope all the others stay!

I agree Bella, I hope it’s a female too, but don’t see that happening sadly. Not if Delta’s sticking around.
