Martin Sheen debuts in Anger Management

Art imitates life as former West Wing star makes his debut as the father of therapist Charlie Goodson.

This week Martin Sheen makes his debut on Anger Management.

The former West Wing star has a recurring role as the father of therapist Charlie Goodson, played by real-life son Charlie Sheen.

Adding Sheen’s father to the series “will give an extra dimension and make it a multi-generational family show,” FX boss John Landgraf previously said.

Charlie Sheen described the episode as the best they had made thus far.

It’s no doubt a positive move for the relationship between actor father and son, with Martin Sheen having described his son in March in less than glowing terms:

“You know, Charlie’s 45 years old. He’s not a kid. Emotionally he still is. Because when you’re addicted, you don’t grow emotionally. So when you get clean and sober you’re starting at the moment you started using drugs or alcohol. You’re emotionally crippled.”

Maybe there’s a plotline in there somewhere.

It airs at 8:30pm tomorrow on Nine.
