New formats coming to Seven in 2013

With two new formats coming in 2013, is there still room for Australia's Got Talent to return?

The Seven Network has two major new formats under wraps for 2013.

New renovation series House Rules was confirmed by Seven during its annual results presentation in August.

But insiders have hinted at another major format set to join established shows such as My Kitchen Rules.

What remains unclear is the future for Dancing with the Stars and Australia’s Got Talent.

Dancing with the Stars has been rumoured for an All-Stars version, and is still a chance to return.

Less convincing is the future for Australia’s Got Talent, which struggled this year. The problem for the show is where to slate it so that it is far enough away from The Voice and The X Factor.

By this time last year Seven had already announced its October audition tour for 2012, but so far there has been no confirmation.

Any return would also require a major production revamp, with its judging panel now looking decidedly tired.

Seven is expected to host its 2013 Upfronts in mid-October.

  1. I think it would be such a shame to see AGT go, when it has so much potential. This years season was tired but a revamp, to make the show more like the UK version, Britains got talent, I think we be very wise for 7.

  2. One thing I used to enjoy about AGT was the variety in acts that was back when we had both Tom and Red as judges. When Kyle and Brian came along, singers became the main talent they would put through.

Don’t get me wrong I am not saying singers are not talented but it does get a little tiresome when there are so many singing shows then AGT is a secondary singing show.

The year that Jack Vigden won is a prime example. Cosentino was far more entertaining in my book.

  3. If we know anything about Simon Cowell he will demand it come back again with X factor as a package deal.

Expect a major rework on the judges. The judges was the big liability of the show this year, they looked so off and stale. I was a fan of Kyle the year before but now he looks misplaced against actual “star judges” on other shows…and him ‘mate’ the other guy is really annoying too.

  4. Been a great show but needs a rest for a couple of seasons. It’s getting a bit lost in all the talent show traffic. If they were to keep it, would be good to see it on a Saturday night.

  5. A major revamp with the judges is long over due on Australia’s Got Talent. Replace Danni with a new wicked female judge…perhaps Deni Hines who proved to be such a popular bad girl in Celebrity Challenge…and everyone loved to hate her. This would get the ratings up. Also replace Kyle; he’s gone beyond his use by date. Perhaps have a new guest judge weekly in his place that way the idea of judges having favourites can be dispensed….just a thought….
