Returning: Auction Room

Auction Room returns to ABC1 in October, with new host, antiques dealer and expert Gordon Brown, formerly of Collectors.

Brown replaced William McInnes for the 10 episodes of Season Two.

Auction Room follows Gordon – with a lifetime’s experience in the world of antiques and collectables– as he meets a range of intriguing personalities with fascinating stories to tell about the treasured possessions they’re selling at auction.

In episode one of Auction Room, Gordon meets meet Anne who has inherited a house packed with an incredible array of objects and collections that her parents obsessively squirreled away over 40 years. With the passing of Anne’s father, the enormous job of deciding what to sell is overwhelming for Anne and her husband Bruce, but with Gordon’s expert advice they start to chip away at the task.

Gordon also meets Simon, the owner of a much-loved Art Deco birdcage lift. Built a bit like a tardis, the birdcage’s last life was as a quirky change room in a dress shop. Only time will tell if it’s difficult to find a buyer for such a hefty item.
