Returning: Person of Interest

US Drama Person of Interest, starring Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson, returns to Nine in just over a week's time.

US Drama Person of Interest returns to Nine in just over a week’s time.

The series, starring Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson, picks up from Episode 21, “Many Happy Returns” at 9:30pm Monday September 17.

It’s Reese’s birthday, and Finch gifts him with a day off – especially when he realises that The Machine’s latest number is sure to revive painful memories.

There are 2 further eps in Season One.

Season Two begins on September 27th so presumably Nine can dovetail straight into the new season.

Good to see it is keeping the same timeslot.

  1. Will regional viewers see Episode 20 “Matsya Nyaya”?
Last episode we watched was Episode 19 due to the Voice running overtime and becoming an episode behind.

  2. In the last episode – Matsya Nyaya: Reese and Finch tried to stop a security guard from stealing platinum and then double-crossing HR. Fusco had to kill his HR to contact to save Reese.

In the past Jessica, the love of Reese’s life who left him because of his job, contacted Reese but he couldn’t see her because Snow sent him on an urgent mission to China. Snow told both Reese and his partner Stanton that their partner was a traitor and they should kill them at the end of the mission. Reese can’t kill Stanton without finding out if it is true but she has no compunction in shooting Reese. Stanton signals for extraction and the wounded Reese flees as the building and Stanton are blown to smithereens on Snow’s orders.

Back in the present, Snow thinks he has finally tracked down Reese in NY and sends some agents to kill him. But it turns out it was all a trap set by Stanton, who is back for revenge, and she kills them.

  3. POI is keeping the same timeslot it ended up in where it was rating 500,000 when Channel 9 stopped showing it with 3 episodes remaining. 9:40pm Monday night with Underbelly as a lead in is probably as good a slot as it is going to get. It will be hard to build an audience 20 episodes into such a fast moving and serial show though.

Channel 9 ran the first block at 9:45pm on Sunday nights, promoted it and repeated the first episodes. They repeated more episodes over Summer to try and build and audience but that didn’t work. They went with Alcatraz for Monday at 8:30pm which turned out to be a big mistake that POI may never recover from.

  4. Glad to see it back (finally). One of the better dramas to come out of the states in a while. Has been frustrating to see constant FB updates on it’s progress with nothing here in Australia.

  5. I’ll admit it clashes with Dollhouse but I’m glad for those that can see it. I hope they can repeat it. I don’t mind Friday but could be open to other options. Please don’t clash with Four Corners and Media Watch on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Also Thursday would be a bad idea up until 1am.

  6. It’s not essential viewing but I was tuning in regularly. 9:30 is a decent time for it.

@2paw – same here. Wouldn’t be an issue with series where the eps are self-contained but I recall that there were some developments in the series-long story arcs of both of the main characters. Hopefully it’ll make sense.
