    Sat N Freo v Geel: 1,394,000

Combining 7mate and fox footy figures, afl once again rules the tv ratings

  2. Matthew See September 11, 2012 at 6:21 am -

i don’t think that Sinbad & Hustle would have gotten the figures they did without the flow-on effect from Doctor Who.

  3. Beaker September 10, 2012 at 10:12 pm -

I love Doctor Who, but I preferred to watch the NRL live and record it to watch afterwards. I bet Doctor Who had a significant timeshift.

  4. Sydney2K September 10, 2012 at 7:29 pm -

One has to take into account that four of the seven programs listed above Dr. Who are football finals matches, which were guaranteed high viewership. I suspect that these figures will be repeated over the five weeks of the football finals, the same weeks that this half season will be showing.

  5. Gonzo September 10, 2012 at 9:38 am -

Dr Who on a Saturday is a waste

  6. Secret Squirrel September 9, 2012 at 9:25 pm -

@MattC – around 75,000 Doctor Who fans watched ep1 on iView during the first day it was available. I’m sure it picked up a few stragglers during the following days but some of those would have been repeat viewers. Also, quite a few people said that they would still watch it on TV.

So, I think it’s unlikely that the ABC did itself out of 250,000 eyeballs, as you put it.

  7. MattC September 9, 2012 at 3:19 pm -

Whilst the ABC have garnered immeasurable goodwill and positive press for making Doctor Who available six days early on iView, they’ve lost probably a quarter of a million eyeballs as a result.

I know those viewers are still watching the ABC content online, but this lack of eyeballs would surely have a negative impact on lead-out and lead-in programs.

    Bit of a catch-22, really.

  8. ryan September 9, 2012 at 2:20 pm -

I rekon Ten should order extra eps of the living room and have it on 2 days a week. It would work on a sunday???

  9. Bella September 9, 2012 at 2:19 pm -

I have an idea for TEN for Saturday nights.

6:30pm Dirty Jobs (ABC2 used to show really old seasons)
    7:30pm Hotel Inspector
    8:30pm Graham Norton Show

  10. bettestreep2008 September 9, 2012 at 1:24 pm -

Interesting. Shows didn’t even need to rate more than 300k to get into the Top 20 last night.

And Ten still could only manage two.

What a wise move by Lachlan not to bid for either the AFL or NRL rights.

Money was so much better spent on Everybody Dance Now, Shire, Bingle and IWS.

Give the man another million $ bonus.

  11. Maev....Sydney September 9, 2012 at 1:13 pm -

Dr. Who and Sinbad combined….did not even reach the million plus New Tricks repeats pulled last week.
And when I spoke to ABC programming last week…they did not even know when or if they would continue the repeats they started.

  12. rad September 9, 2012 at 12:55 pm -

0.9 ahead of 7Two. Ten has just become a multi-channels. Can you change the layout to reflect this? Put some spin back into their sales department. “Ten, the number 1 multi-channel”, hahahaaha

  13. jimbo k September 9, 2012 at 12:02 pm -

Seven and Nine both did well with the AFL / NRL Finals games.

Just note that the Funniest Home Viedeos was on in the afternoon in Sydney and Brisbane (hence – the lower ratings).

Another disappointing night for Ten. Only 2% above SBS for the night.
