TEN’s social media app Zeebox is expected to launch in late October.
The second-screen app, which is TEN’s answer to Seven’s FANGO and Nine’s Jump-In, is about to launch in the US with NBC.
TEN has said Zeebox will allow viewers to “Connect with friends around TV shows. See what people are sharing about TV shows on Twitter and Facebook. Find more information about what’s on TV. Find out information relating to the TV show I am watching. Buy products related to TV programs, such as DVDs, CDs, music downloads, books, and so on.”
In the UK, where Zeebox was developed, people can log in to Facebook or Twitter without ever leaving the app. It also offers episode-specific information as a programme airs.
The Australian launch, which was due in the third quarter will be slightly delayed by arriving in October, but this is due to following the US where it was originally promised for the second quarter.
To be available on iPhone, iPad, Android devices, smartphones, laptops and PCs, Zeebox will also include more than just TEN branded shows.

I think the genius’s at TEN might have left this a bit late. Typically a network will drive it’s mass audience to the app. On this occasion however, TEN will be able to talk directly with it’s total audience !
Not yet. All they have announced is “It is currently available for iPad with a roll-out to later include iPhone, Android and Windows platforms and as a web app.”
David – Any word on ‘Jump-in’ for iPhone yet?
Maybe it should have been called Knock-Knock-Box for Ten’s audience…as in Knock Knock, who’s there?
Why not X-Box? (Yes, I know why not XBox, but it would have been the best name for a Network Ten app.)
