David Koch to become AFL club chairman

Move over, Eddie. Sunrise co-host David Koch is set to become chairman of Port Adelaide Football Club.

Following in the footsteps, it would seem, of Eddie McGuire, Sunrise co-host David Koch is set to head up an AFL football club.

Koch, 56, will replace Brett Duncanson as chairman of Port Adelaide Football Club.

He has been #1 ticket holder, and will head Port Adelaide’s board, which will include five new directors to be announced this afternoon. One will be two Cos Cardone, former head of light entertainment at Nine, now an executive in Eddie McGuire’s television production company.

Koch is expected to be elected unopposed.

David has been the club’s number 1 ticket holder for a few years now. In that role he had the opportunity to secure deals etc for the club but failed to do so. Doubt too much will change now that he has the title of Chairman (not President as many media outlets are reporting )….

Your club picked this naff name and the naff song lyrics

A quick google search brings up all manner of port power pictures

    Made your bed. 🙂

  3. Port Power???? We are Port Adelaide, David. please don’t call us Port Power. It’s like saying St Saints, or Gold Suns or West Eagles.

I think this could be good. It will give us national coverage every day with his work on Sunrise, we don’t get many games screened nationally so that is a plus. And because of his profile he should be able to secure some decent sponsorship deals which we deseprately need. So i’m all for it. Sure he can be a bit of a tool, but he’s clearly passionate about Port Adelaide. The big problem is that he doesn’t live in SA.
