Hollywood’s Jane Fonda, 74, is set to star in a single-camera half-hour comedy, Now What? in development for ABC (US).
The veteran star has been appearing in The Newsroom as a Cable TV president, but only in a support role.
According to LA Times she will star as a mother who becomes roommates again with her daughter after the latter writes a blog post titled, “Dear Mom, Here’s Why I Hate You…” The mother refuses to move out until the two resolve their differences.
The series was created by Abby Gewanter (Pushing Daisies) and will be produced by Mike Tollin and Ben Spector of Tollin Productions.
But it doesn’t mean she’s given up her big screen career, soon to appearing as Nancy Reagan in The Butler.

Hanoi Jane. I’d like to see her in a drama instead.
Guess we won’t be seeing her in The Newsroom season 2.
