“I am not going to renew a contract with TEN. I haven’t actually spoken to them. I’ve loved it, absolutely loved it, but it’s time to move on.”
Matt Moran is quitting MasterChef Australia after two seasons as a judge and mentor.
The Aria Restaurant chef has been associated with the series since its first season but tells the Sunday Telegraph he wants to spend more time opening eateries and pursuing his own cooking show opportunities.
“Aria has always been my main gig … but I am sure there will be room for TV next year in some other capacity,” he said.
Which sounds like he may have already secured another TV spot, possibly with Seven or Nine.
Moran also admitted that although the show’s relocation to Melbourne wasn’t a major factor, it would make it increasingly difficult to juggle the TV commitment for the show with his other business ventures.

Matt Moran was a major reason for me not watching last season, I will give it another go next year now.
No great loss, always found him to be boring. Agree Maggie Beer would be great!
Moving to Nine perhaps? Wasn’t there news recently that they’re linked to another new reality cooking show format?
Good luck with your own cooking show… lol
Maybe they’ll replace him with Tobie Puttock, who has left MKR (replaced by Colin Fassnidge.)
Good never liked him he is to arrogant I would like to see him replaced by Maggie beer
Yep, not really disappointed either. Didn’t like the way he sometimes spoke to the contestants, visiting chefs, and the judges.
And the fact he hasn’t even spoken to Ten but annouces this in the Sunday Telegraph instead says alot IMO.
Gary is the star of the show, Matt as well. George (Mr Bounce-alot) could be lost without really affecting anything. So long as Gary stays.
I agree with the above comments. His input wasn’t always constructive, and having met hima t a food and wine show, I don’t think his personality gels with the other hosts.
Can’t say I’m disappointed to read that. He’s a brilliant chef but can’t say he has much appeal when it comes to hosting a television program. His involvement early on was good, as a mentor, but he basically took over last season, reducing the roles of Matt, Garry & George considerably.
I wasn’t a big fan of him on MasterChef to be honest. I wonder who is replacing him.
