Nine’s NRL Grand Final dominated Sunday night viewing pulling a huge 2.42m viewers for the Presentation and 2.4m for the match itself.

Normally the Sunday of a long weekend sees numbers dip but last night there were 957,000 watching the match in Sydney, 751,000 in Melbourne and 564,000 in Brisbane. Numbers rose during the primetime Presentation with Melbourne numbers actually hitting the front.

Nine enjoyed a huge 40.8% share then Seven 25.2%, ABC 17.2%, TEN 12.9% and SBS 3.9%.

Other shows for Nine were 60 Minutes (1.44m), Nine News (1.21m), House Husbands (1.13m) and The Mentalist (665,000).

Seven News (1.15m) was best for Seven then Sunday Night (988,000), Border Security (971,000), Air Ways (903,000) and Strike Back (541,000 / 537,000).

On SBS ONE Battle Castle was 269,000, The Gene Code was 192,000 and World News Australia was 115,000.

Big Bang Theory topped multichannels with 229,000 on GO!

Tonight’s viewing is likely to pull huge figures as many people bed in early for the working week in long weekend states.

The test for nrl will be next year when it goes back to night time kick off. The 530 kick off is a little bit in between – good for prime time rating share and lead in to normal programming but just odd time. Any idea of full national figures including regional between afl and nrl David?

I didn’t see Strike Back last night, was it season 1 or 2?

I enjoyed The Muppets All Star Gala on TEN, shame it didn’t rate… and again the MotoGp needs to return to ONE, I understand it will not for the rest of the season, like F1. Hope it stays there in 2013! It’s not working on TEN.

@Pete – Agree. Anyway, Strike Back is hardly suitable for 8:30pm Sunday “family” viewing. Should have been classified AV rather than M.

Those numbers for Strike Back indicate Seven’s decision to move it to 9.30 from next Sunday is a wise one.
