Returning: Red Dwarf

ABC1 will screen the tenth season of UK cult comedy Red Dwarf in November.

ABC1 will screen the tenth season of UK cult comedy Red Dwarf in November.

This aired in the UK earlier this month.

Space battles, quantum entanglement, and love triangles with snack dispensers are just some of problems facing Rimmer, Lister, Cat and Kryten as they return in a brand new series of the legendary sci-fi sitcom. As Red Dwarf continues to creak though the wastelands of unchartered deep space, the posse stumble upon the mysteriously abandoned SS Trojan, but as they inspect the ship Rimmer receives an SOS distress call from an old foe and is suddenly faced with the dilemma of his life.

Meanwhile, Lister grapples with the problem of being his own father, gets involved in a love triangle with snack dispensers 23 and 34, while Kryten and Cat become quantum entangled forcing them to do everything in unison. The series finale finds the boys surrounded by a Simulant War Cruiser and its fleet of attack ships. Armed with only two forks and a pencil sharpener, the Dwarfers begin to wonder whether this is the beginning of the end. Only one man can save them. Unfortunately that man is Arnold J Rimmer.

Red Dwarf stars Craig Charles (Coronation Street), Chris Barrie (Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, The Brittas Empire), Danny John-Jules (Death in Paradise, MI High), and Robert Llewellyn (MI High, MirrorMask).

Wednesday November 7 at 9.30pm on ABC1

  1. This is great news, I’ve been enjoying the series so far, it’s been a real return to form. I agree with Cam Reed, the cast seem to be clicking like they used to. Looking forward to watching it again on ABC, good to see they have got it on relatively quickly.

  2. @Cam Reed – that’s good news. The Back To Earth eps were woeful but I thought that S8 wasn’t bad. I knew this was coming so I’ve waited. Thought that we might have got it a little sooner but no biggie as spoilers are less of an issue with comedie-dramas.

  3. It is quite good, I’ve watched the first 4 episodes (4th this morning) on the UK Dave TV On Demand Site (it isn’t region locked, but guess it may be now ABC has got it), it is a huge improvement on the Back To Earth episodes. Pretty much back to old form, so far I think it is even better than series 8 as well, the cast seem to be clicking again.

  4. Yippee! I’ve been waiting for this this since production of Red Dwarf X was confirmed last year. Reviews have been great. It’s still screening in the UK so were getting it about 6 weeks behind them.
