Secret new project for Hamish Macdonald

By David Knox on October 8, 2012 / Filed Under News, Top Stories 14

EXCLUSIVE: News presenter Hamish Macdonald has a secret new project coming to TEN.

Macdonald has just completed travelling the world to complete interviews for Assange: A TEN News Special which aired last night and had four days off this week.

He returns to TEN Late News next week.

“I’m looking forward at being back on the Late News and hammering away at that for the rest of the year,” he told TV Tonight.

But when asked about a secret new project, Macdonald was suddenly very evasive.

“I know nothing of what you’re talking about!” he laughed.

Asked if more details might be forthcoming at the upcoming network presentation for 2013, he said, “I’m sure it will be news to me I have been very busy!”

Hope you’re kidding @Tennewsinsider. Ten need to stop wasting resources on MacDonald’s self absorbed ‘specials’ which focus on sensationalism.

I agree with the general feeling that Hamish is over rated. I don’t mind Matt, but it would be good to see a strong personality and to have the news on consistently at say 10.30pm and not here and there.

He wants to be Australia’s answer to Louis Theroux. He will be doing a six part series where he “investigates” certain topics.. making himself the centre of the story.

I agree with mistaken… I think the ‘Carrie’ shots of him were a bit odd.

MuchoTB & mistaken… I’m 25 (not middle-aged or teenage or a gay man) and fawn over his good looks. I think it’s a mixture of his looks as well as his intelligence. What was it like meeting him, David?? I must say I am very jealous. *swoon*

Leigh H, totally agree. Sandra & Brad were fabulous together. With the new format they could have really hit a home run.

MuchoTB, from what I’ve seen on social media, it’s not the middle aged women fawning over MacDonald, it’s teenage girls and gay men.

I agree Matt is a better host of the late news. Though it is still beyond me why we don’t have the dynamic duo of Sandra and Brad. Hamish is at his best doing investigative jounalism. Last night was a great example, however, there were too many shots of Hamish thinking etc. Those shots made me think GG’s comment may ring true.

I heard it’s going to be called “Being Hamish MacDonald – My Bedazzled Life”.

I thought I was the only one who didn’t think much of Hamish.

    Meh. Overrated. Agree with aussie.

He’s going to host Ready Steady Cook isn’t he?

If we’re not careful, I think there’s a danger this guy might start to believe all the publicity about himself.

Prefer Matt Doran on the Late News…will be sad to see him go.

IMO this guy is overrated, people always rave on about him being a fantastic reporter but usually it’s just middle aged women fawning over his looks.

If his new project is anything like his Assange and Bikie Wars efforts, I’ll be giving it a miss. Two examples of sensationalist journalism which focused on him more than the subject. His desire to be a star and be in every shot is getting in the way of him doing his job effectively.

What on earth were the scenes with him tapping away at his laptop Carrie Bradshaw style in an abandoned warehouse meant to be on the Assange special? Only thing missing was the Sex and the City theme song.
