I too enjoyed Smash, I also like The Good Wife…does this make me intellectually challenged…..mmmm

  2. David Knox October 31, 2012 at 11:35 pm -

    Really enjoyed Smash.

  3. estherhoffman October 31, 2012 at 11:17 pm -

I agree,Leppie. It all gets down to personal choice when you watch a show. While a show might be formulaic and paint by numbers to some people, others might find it fresh and fun.I happen to like Smash,I don’t think it’s the greatest show on tv,but i find it to be fun and entertaining, and quite a change from what else is on tv at the moment. And judging by the Metacritic website where 27 out of a total of 32 critics gave the show a positive rating,i’m not the only person who likes this show.

  4. BellJay October 31, 2012 at 9:03 pm -

NCIS was a great episode. This season is very good and i am enjoying it. And it is one of a few shows that appeals to me, and the over 60′s. Many of them say its one of a few they watch. The older shows on the off channels are considered better than a lot of the crap that is on offer these days and gets their viewership. I love Dr Quinn, Jag, MacGyver, old movies, Catherine Cookson movies. These are top rate watching. Its a shame that swearing, violence and sex scenes have taken over as ‘entertainment’.

  5. Leppie October 31, 2012 at 5:19 pm -

Andy, her saying Smash is a great show is her own personal opinion. I don’t see why you would feel the need to correct her on her personal taste. Like most shows, it has it’s flaws (which are being corrected for season 2), but it was still an enjoyable show – proven by the fact it was renewed for a second season. The ratings for Smash are up 100% compared the previous show that was in it’s time slot.

  6. Andy G October 31, 2012 at 3:11 pm -

estherhoffman…. Smash is not a great show. Breaking Bad, Mad Men and Homeland (wait till episode 5 this season. Best 15 minutes of television in a Long time) are great shows.

Smash is a formulaic, paint by numbers, predicatble show which bombed to the point in Season 1 that if it had not been on NBC would have been cancelled after 4 episodes Pan Am or Playboy Club style. The fact that they radically changed almost every facet for season 2 is proof enough that season 1 was seriously flawed.

  7. estherhoffman October 31, 2012 at 1:02 pm -

The Good Wife is an asbolute masterpiece compared to what else is on Wednesday nights.I wonder how Smash rated last night? That’s another great show that doesn’t seem to rate well given the country’s current obsession with reality shows.

  8. Secret Squirrel October 31, 2012 at 11:59 am -

Count me as another who doesn’t think that The Wood Wife is all that good. Not bad, just meh.

  9. Leppie October 31, 2012 at 11:55 am -

Trev. Just because the shows don’t appeal to you, doesn’t mean they’re shows catering for the intellectually challenged – Not all programming on television are created for people aged 65 and over.

  10. Pete October 31, 2012 at 10:57 am -

    @ Trev

I have tried several times to really enjoy The Good Wife but agree with you that the lead acting is too wooden. Maybe that is why it rates so badly.

  11. jezza the first original one October 31, 2012 at 10:39 am -

@ trev, I must say I am disappointed that ch9 did not change the title of its last prog to Big Embarrassing Bodies….just to keep the Big theme

  12. trev October 31, 2012 at 9:58 am -

Well I’ll be! Looks like I’m first out of bed again. Last night’s ratings were pretty much par for the course, but thrillseekers brace yourself for tonights inspired entertainment on offer from our friendly FTA Networks.

Ten’s Glee has a Britney Spears week with a medley of her greatest hits.(Hits?) and Julianna Margulies continues her impression of a tree stump on The Good Wife.
Seven, SBS and the ABC are mediocre to say the least with the latter slightly ahead on points with a repeat of Stephen Fry and The Chaser which ensures the odd chuckle.

However, the evening’s highlight is the magnificent lineup from the debt free network, who obviously believe the intellectually challenged must be catered for. Big Brother, Big
Brother Little Sister, Big Fat Gypsy Weddings followed by Embarrassing Bodies, one after the other…..What can one say? I’m simply flabbergasted.
