While Nine fights for survival, Seven goes Gangnam Style.

Ratings: Having K-Pop sensation Psy strut his stuff on The X Factor ensured it pulled big numbers on Tuesday.

Tuesday proved to be an easy win for Seven with big numbers tuning in to see K-Pop sensation Psy performing his global hit, Gangnam Style.

Getting a former Spice Girl to dance alongside him will probably ensure another viral video. Yet despite his interview on Today Tonight, it was Nine’s ACA that won that round.

Seven Network won the night with  34.7% then Nine 24.7%, TEN 17.8%, ABC 16.5% and SBS 6.4%.

The X Factor was 1.66m for Seven then Winners and Losers (1.15m), Seven News (1.06m), Today Tonight (972,000), Home and Away (949,000), 50 Greatest Plastic Surgery Shockers (607,000) and Deal or No Deal (422,000).

NCIS (789,000) was best for TEN. Modern Family was 650,000, TEN News was 611,000, NCIS: LA was 574,000, The Project 6pm was 354,000, and I Will Survive was 271,000 fifth in its timeslot.

  1. Yes it would be great if Ten re-ran “i Will Survive”maybe 5 nights a week late night or afternoons. It deserved much more than it got and I agree it runs rings around all the other contrived pop oriented talent shows, even with its flawed concept.

  2. It’s a shame that I Will Survive is on 10 with its current glut. With the right promotion it might have been successful on 7 or 9, but i’m glad at least that 10 has continued to show it. It’s a true talent show and not just another excuse to manufacture yet another pop singer. The Survivor numbers are disappointing, but so is the start time…

  3. I think they stopped promoting I Will Survive a while ago. Good on them for sticking with it, although maybe they should have moved it to a softer time?

  4. You won’t believe how much good content you are missing out with on I Will Survive since it went down to one hour a week instead of two. We are hoping Ten will consider playing some of this footage outside of ratings either during summer, on digital or outside of prime time hours.

  5. Psy on TT must have been a last minute addition as there were no ads for it during the day, only in the 6pm news which I watched around 7pm from a recording and was annoyed to see he’d be on TT from an ad – my 10 minute overrun on the news only allowed me to see 2 usual TT type stories, no Psy. Annoying!

But this morning on Sunrise, it seemed he played every half an hour from 7.45am on! They certainly made good use of him this morning!

  6. I liked I Will Survive. Less hype and dramatics. They just got on with it all and it was much more relaxing to watch. I thought it was good idea and a great Aussie show and the idea novel to do it all in the outback of Australia.

I wish NCIS would go back up to its 1 million mark though. Must be all these music show that are holding it back.

  7. I just want to take a moment and congrulate Eddie and Who Wants To Be a Millioniare. When they came up with the radical idea to revamp the 1 hour show into a 30 minute free flowing show it was a risk. They where coming up against a powerhouse of the Ch7 stable that had taken all before it and eaten them up and thrown them out. Eddie has grown a strong audience that now constantly beats Deal or No Deal. WWTBAMA even makes DOND tired, boring and pointless…….

  8. TEN must seriously consider a complete re-branding.

They should call themselves Network FIVE as they have:

1: Half the staff they had a few years ago,

2: Half the talent pool of SBS,

3: Half the leadership abilities of the others, and, of course,

    4: Half the viewers…

  9. I didn’t realised I Will Survive was still on, I thought it finished as I have seen no commercials for it. I can’t believe they are still showing it in that timeslot.

  10. Well Ten clearly are going to stick with “I Will Survive” till the end in two weeks. They should be applauded for sticking with a local show that has rated so appalingly, but by insisting on keeping it directly against XFactor they have done it no favours either.
