Bert out of intensive care

Bert Newton was released from intensive care yesterday after undergoing a quadruple heart bypass on Saturday.

The Herald Sun reports a hospital spokeswoman said he had been moved from the ICU to the cardiac unit ahead of an upcoming rehab program.

Only relatives are allowed to visit for the time being.

Patti Newton told reporters at the weekend that Newton was expected to remain in ICU for at least three days.

Newton was admitted to hospital on Wednesday after complaining of chest pains.
