Coldplay on Sunrise

Sunrise is gearing up for its mammoth broadcast of Coldplay at the Sydney Opera House.

Sunrise is gearing up for its mammoth broadcast of Coldplay at the Sydney Opera House tomorrow (cheekily branded by promos as the “Television event of the Year”).

Coldplay is rumoured to be doing four songs on the Northern Boardwalk, with the Harbour Bridge as the backdrop. The Seven show secured the location anticipating the pictures to go around the world, and has liaised with external security agencies, police and the Sydney Opera House to ensure a trouble-free event.

Sunrise has become synonymous with major events. We’ve had Bieber, One Direction, Psy, P!nk… but nothing quite like this,” said Executive Producer Michael Pell.

“What you have here is the world’s biggest band performing on Australia’s most famous landmark with one of the most iconic backdrops on the country’s favourite morning TV show.”

“We held a lottery to give away tickets to the event. But I’ll be hidden away in a control room truck on the morning, and I can assure viewers, watching at home will give you the best seat in the house.

“The planets have aligned and it’s going to be spectacular.”

TV Tonight hears whispers the first performance is set for 7:40am Thursday.

  1. Why dont the Today show do stuff like this?
I know they have Taylor Swift coming up. But it will no doubt be in the studio (like they did with P!nk)

Wouldnt it be worth spending the cash and doing a iconic outside broadcast. I know its probably expensive…but split the cost with the record company and release the clip for the world to see.

Congrats to Sunrise for doing this kinda stuff (not that i watch their show)
