Emily Owens MD not ratings medicine for TEN

  1. I watch a lot of Channel 10 and only ever saw one ad for Emily Owens.

Can’t believe the numbers for the reality garbage the other channels serve up. But nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence and taste of the general public.

  2. Never heard of Emily Owens…rarely watch TEN these days..an Wed. night is Kitchen Cabinet…but I would have given it a look see and caught Annanbel on IView….
Although from what I read here…likely to crash out in the US…not sure if I should invest in it…
Will check it out on catchup

  3. There was actually quite a bit of promotion for this show on Tuesday and Wednesday night, I saw a promo for it during NCIS, as well as at least two promos during The Good Wife

Ten have been promoting it but nobody is watching new dramas on the network at the moment, the only successful shows ATM are Modern Family, Homeland and NCIS. All their fast-tracked new shows have been turkeys…The New Normal, Ben and Kate, Emily Owens MD, Vegas…

I liked the pilot of Ben and Kate but didn’t bother watching the rest after seeing the ratings on TVBytheNumbers…it will probably be axed along with the rest of Ten’s new shows in May. No point getting invested in a canceled series

  4. Emily Owens MD is very weak. My girlfriend only watches it because of Justin Hartley from smallville. But like other people are saying it’s not doing well on the CW in the US either so i can’t see it lasting long.

  5. I saw a few ads for Emily Owens during the news or The Project (the only Ten shows I occasionally watch live). They didn’t make the show look good anyway. I knew the dire ratings in the US, so I didn’t bother watching it.

Mamie Gummer had a recurring role on The Good Wife, so I can see why Ten might have thought there would be some crossover audience, but it really should be on Eleven.

I forgot to watch Moody Christmas. Is there a replay or is it worth chasing up on iview?

  6. I liked the first ep -even if a blatant rip off of Grey’s ( a fave – sorry all) There is so much content that would be better fast tracked though. Ten need to look at Foxtel for ideas – loving 666, Hart etc. Ten need to just find a niche and stick to it!

  7. Pleased “Glee” continues to grow a little, will hopefully hit into 600s soon which where it was last season and before TEN went downhill. The series is a huge improvement over a lot of season two and all season three. At last Ryan Murphy is letting other people run the show, level of production numbers greatly improved, new characters are working and its getting back some of its wicked adult sense of humour the kids wouldnt pick up

  8. Fast tracking only works if the show is good and people are likely to get it from other means if it is not on TV. Fast tracking does not work for shows that people have no interest in and barely heard of.

I have absolutely no interest in Emily Owens MD, unless its a bit quirky or off beat, medical shows have been done to death.

I also have no interest what so ever in The Good Wife or Homeland, these may be great shows with great acting but once again not interested. They can fast track all they like I still won’t watch.

The only fast tracking that has worked for me in The Living Dead on Foxtel next night after USA.

Besides Wed night is ABC night!

  9. Emily who?

In other news: Good to see ABC News Breakfast’s rating go over 100,000, and double that of Ten’s. Is it the first time over that mark? I imagine Hurricane Sandy had something to do with that though.

  10. Tried Emily Owens again…only lasted 5 minutes this time…and now I know why I don’t like the lead actress…I don’t like her mother’s acting either !!

  11. @ Karlos

Can only go on the first ep as I didn’t watch the 2nd, but personally the pilot was mediocre and the neurotic medical intern lead character archetype is played out after Scrubs and Grey’s Anatomy…even Meredith Grey was bareable (at least initially).

It is a CW show (and a soon to be cancelled one at that) which automatically screams niche show better suited to 11.

  12. @Daniel – 113,000 (ABC) -v- 53,000 (TEN Breakfast). Will never catch up to the ABC.
Surveillance Oz (1.09m). Could anything be cheaper to make than this? Memo Nine and TEN.
Emily Owens MD was just 186,000 – Not one promo, not one ad. What do they expect?

  13. I watched the first ep – another case of a ditzy female who speaks too fast, and so becomes unintelligible. Maybe Americans can follow what she says, but I imagine the rest of the world would have trouble. Even the subtitles couldn’t keep up!

  14. Very little promotion, Another issue with New fast tracked shows. And see, i never new the lead with the rather old fashioned name of Maimie was Meryl Streeps daughter, until I read this article. I wouldn’t watch this anyway though, as it’s too similar to Greys Anatomy, a show I can not stand.

  15. Yeah the only advertising I’ve seen for that Emily Owens MD is a little “Emily Owens MD – Up Next” thing in the corner of the screen for 2 seconds when Good Wife comes back from commercial.

  16. Is Emily Owens MD getting such bad ratings because it’s a bad show, or little to no promotion? Other than a couple of articles on this site I have never seen/heard any advertisements for this show.

  17. David, would that be the highest ever ratings for Breakfast?

I can remember 51,000 back in September and for the launch but nothing higher.

Still well behind the competitors but slowly catching up to the ABC.

  18. David what about the ratings for Big Brother from 7:30-8:30. I think you may have only included the ratings for the 2nd part from 8:30-9:00.

At least Serveillance Oz did not top the night (although the amount of people who watched it is shocking)

I watched the Chasers for the first time in a while…funny but not the same. I prefered their original format where they were always out in the streets pranking people.
