Production on the third cycle of Sherlock has been pushed back from January to March, delaying its UK debut until late 2013.
The BBC has not announced a premiere date for season three, but given that January was previously announced as the start of production, fans had hoped to see Holmes and Watson return mid year.
This means the US and Australia may not get the next season until either late 2013 — or early 2014.
The show wasn’t mentioned in Nine’s 2013 release this morning, but that doesn’t neccesarily mean it’s out.
Nine had scheduled a replay of S2 from next week but has since scheduled Howzat instead. It will probably play elsewhere over summer.

Plus @Mac Benedict Cumberbatch will be filming Star Trek 2 and I am also guessing because of the way Doctor Who is being done to coincide with the 50th Anniversery, Steven Moffat would be hard pressed to do both shows at the same time (or within days/weeks of each other).
Thanks David for the news. I really love this series and look forward to seeing it. Whenever that happens to be.
I’ll admit I might be tempted to watch the replays in January on a Tuesday. Or maybe Wednesday if Grimm doesn’t work out.
I guess Martin Freeman’s schedule belongs to Peter Jackson until further notice.
That’s a shame, but on a positive, Luther series 3 (but most likely its last) has started filming in the last few weeks.
damn, I was really looking forward to this.
