ABC NSW newsreader quits weekend bulletins

Felicity Davey will step down as weekend presenter for ABC News NSW.

Felicity Davey will step down as weekend presenter for ABC News NSW.

Davey has presented bulletins and updates for ten years, during stories on the Columbia Shuttle disaster in 2003, the Asian Tsunami in 2004, the London bombings in 2005, and the Victorian bushfires of 2009.

She resigns to spend more time with family but will remain with ABC in a freelance capacity.

“I feel extremely privileged to have had such a fantastic job for so many years. For the last six and a half years I have worked part-time, which has allowed me to be a full-time mum all week, and to read the TV News on weekends,” she said.

“The ABC has been a very family-friendly workplace for me, and I will continue to work at the ABC, just in a freelance capacity. I won’t disappear completely, you just won’t see me every weekend.

“I believe ABC News is the best there is in Australia and I feel proud to have worked alongside so many incredible journalists, directors, and studio and office crew. I look forward to maintaining a strong relationship with the ABC into the future. I would also like to thank the very loyal ABC viewers who have always made me feel welcome,” said Felicity.

Her last bulletin will be Sunday, December 23 with ABC News 24’s Jeremy Fernandez to take over from December 29.
