The BBC has confirmed Jonathan Creek is to have a revival special in the UK this Easter.
The series starring Alan Davies ran for four series between 1997 to 2004, and enjoyed two Christmas specials.
A brand new 90-minute special Jonathan Creek: The Clue Of The Savant’s Thumb, pairs Alan Davies with Sheridan Smith as fellow investigator Joey Ross. The two are drawn into a complex case involving a secret society, seemingly supernatural events at a girls’ boarding school, and the miraculous disappearance of a body in front of three witnesses.
Also returning is Rik Mayall as DI Gideon Pryke.
The guest cast list will include: Sarah Alexander, Joanna Lumley, Nigel Planer and Hasina Haque.
Filming is currently underway in the UK.

hey David. I just noticed that this special aired in the UK a little over a week ago. I am just wondering if it will be airing here in Australia any time soon?
And who has rights to the show here – is it the ABC or Seven (i think they aired / repeated on 7two last). Thanks
I too love Jonathan Creek, it’s one of my favourite TV shows. However, the last episode, ‘The Judas Tree’ seemed to be an unholy mess of half-baked resolutions.
Rather than offering a rational explanation for the absurb, this one required the audience to accept some rather far-fetched solutions, and for some of those solutions to reference a hitherto unmentioned incident, upon which the crime/s pivoted.
I hope that this new episode is a return to form.
Glad that they are making this Easter special. I loved the series and the Christmas speacials over the years.
I do hope that fta / digital tv will air it soon after it airs in England
Love Jonathan Creek.
